U in the collection name stands for Ukraine. For many years, heavy industry has played a crucial role in the country’s economy and national identity. During the recent war, numerous industrial objects were completely destroyed. The series zeroes in on blue-collar workers and their workplaces: steel plants, coal and salt mines, chemical manufacturing, etc. 

A ray, by definition, is light that radiates from a bright object. Like long-exposure photography that highlights the movement of light, this series trails the inner light of common people. However, the light is always accompanied by darkness. Loneliness and despair can be seen in their faces and postures, and the air is filled with the inevitability of a tragedy.
