A series of reperformances at a cross-sectional retrospective exhibition dedicated to the work of Marina Abramović.
The performances done during the show:
- Freeing the Memory (1975) – a performer reciting all the words he can remember in his native language, as long as he remembers any.
- Imponderabilia (1977) – the naked couple, facing each other, stand still for an hour in a narrow passage between the exhibition halls. Originally performed by Marina and Ulay.
- Similar Illusion (1981) – a couple dressed in an appropriate outfit stands in the starting pose for tango, changing only the arrangement of hands and heads without taking a single step.
- Cleaning the Mirror (1995) – a performer scrubs with a brush, piece by piece, a human skeleton. The water in the bucket is dirty (stained with ink, clay and earth) and therefore the skeleton becomes dirtier and dirtier eventually.
All the reperformances were done in consultation and with the approval of Marina Abramovic.
